BEAUTY RECIPES.
HAIR TONIC. Tincture arnica, 2 drachms, tincture capsicum, *2 drahms; tincture cantharides, 2 drachms; tincture jarorandi, 2 drachms gycerine, 2 drachms; aromatic spirits of ammonia, 2 drachms; -alcohol 4oz. Mix a ;l iogether, and apply to , the roots the. hair fttery night. This tonic is most effective m removing dandruff. ' ! FOR A RED NOSE. Powdered, sulphur, 1 drachm; powdered starch, If drachm; oxide of zinc (ointment) lfoz.; oil of rose, 3 drops. Mix and rub into the skin every night. MASSAGE DREAM. White wax, loz.; white vaseline, loz; tincture of benzoin, 20 drops; borax ioz.; oil of lavender, 5 drops. Melt wax, warm vaseline, and add, beat together, then add borax and benzoin; the latter drop by drop—lastly, the oil of lavender. TO WHITEN AND IMPROVE THE COMPLEXION. Oil of sweet almonds, soz; fresh cucumber juice, 50z.; essence of cucumbers, lfoz.; powdered Castille soap, 1-8 oz.; tincture of benzoin, f drachm. To obtain the cucumber juice take one cucumber, slice and boil in water, strain through a fine, cloth. Mix all ingredients together and massage the lotion into the skin. LOTION TO CURE DOUBLE CHIN. Fresh lemonjuice (strained), 20z.; rosewater., loz.; simple tincture of benzoin, 20 drops. Mix lemonjuice and rosewater, add drop by .’ drop, shaking carefully, the benzoin. Apply to the under portion or the chin with firm massage, working backwards from chin to throat.
TO CURE. A WAIRT ON. THE: HAND. Take the inner, vind of :a lemon, , soak if in vinegar, and bind over the waft. Leave it on for two hours." Repeat the process with a.fresh piece l every day. until the wart disappears. HAIR CURLING FLUID. Gum arabic mucilage, loz; carbonate of potash, loz; glycerine, loz.; rosewater, lit pint; Portugal extract, 4oz. Dissolve the potash in the rosewater, add the _ glycerine, then the gum arabic. Stir in the Portugal extract, mix thoroughly, and allow to- stand for a week before using. Half quantity may be made. .
