SHOOTING.
TARUHERU GUN CLUB. An 8-bird match was held on Saturday, the 19th. inst. at the Taruheru Club’s grounds to shoot for Mr Holdsworth and Son’s trophy as first prize, and Mr S. Earle’s as second. A large number-of shooters faced the trap and enjoyed a good afternoon’s sport, Mr W. Sharp securing first prize with four birds out of eight, and R. Pilcher second with three. The usual sweepstake followed, which was also won by W. Sharp, V. Nossitor being second. Another shoot will he held on Saturday next, tlie 26th., when two more valuable trophies will he shot for, and all members and intending members are most cordially invited to attend. ORMOND GUN CLUB. A match between the Te Karaka, Waeren ga-a-hika, and Ormond Gun Clubs for Mr. C. Neenan’s . Cup was fired at Ormond on 1 Saturday, and resulted in the Ormond and Waerenga-a-hika Clubs tieing with 23 kills each, while Te Karaka had 21 kills. In the shoot-off Ormond won by 2 points. Tlie following were, the scores:— Ormond: W. Neenen 6, D. McKenzie 5, W. Parsons 4, H. Croxton 4. G. E. Jones 4. J. A. Caesar 2, H. Lougher 1, 0. Morris 1; total 27. Waerenga-a-hika: Sidney 5, J. Jones 4 W. Barber 4, T. O’Dwyer 3, Ruru 3. Hira. 3, Mason 2, F. McKenzie 1; total 25. Te Karaka: F. Clayton 4, E. Hingston 4, F. Pilcher 4, Ashby 2. Manuel 2, Sandlant 2, Bell 2, Doyle 1; total 21. W. Neenan won Mr. C. J. Bo] ten’s. Cup for the best ‘shot in the Ormond, team. A sweepstake was afterwards shot for resulting in Manuel winning, and O’Dwyer and -W. Neenan tiein'g for second place, the latter winning in the shoot-off. A second sweepstake was won by Sidney, W. Neenan and W Parsons tieing for second place, the former winning on the first barrel.
