PATHE PICTURES
The advent of a new programme of pictures at His Majesty’s Theatre this evening should ensure a good attendance, as the various films of which the series is made up are said to be especially fine. It is considered that the depiction entitled “The Diver”, is the best item included, and this is.said to amply illustrate the perils of the deep, of which so little is known, and the hazardous labors of divers far below the surface. The scenic study “Summer Time in the North” affords some very rare views of the beauties to be found in and about the Arctic Circle, and the exquisite effects by the sun shining on snowfield and glacier. Dramatic subjects are, however, predominant in the series,’ and included among them are some really excellent items. An American 6tory entitled “The Bad Man’s Downfall” .is perhaps the best of the selection, and it illustrates the keen rivalry in love between a sherriff and an outlaw, and the subsequent triumph of the former. Another drama is that entitled “Mammy’s Ghost,!’ of which an old negress is the heroine, whilst “P. O. Hawlceyes’ Busy Day” is a highly diverting comic telling of the remarkable adventures that befel a new policeman on his first day of duty. The latest “Pathe Gazette,” “Foolshead —Insurance Agent,” and “The Broken Trail”, are included.
