Mr. W. D. Lysnar having resigned his seat on. the Gisborne Fire Board',, the Borough! Council has appointed Cr. J, Brown to the vacancy. Or. Geo. Smith has been appointed to represent the Borough Council on the Harbor Board, vice Mr. W. D. Lysnar, who has resigned on: the ground, of ill-health. A very pleasing little incident took place at the High School on Friday afternoon, when Mr A. R. Gatland (Principal of the School), on behalf of the members of the High-School Girls’ Hockey Club, presented Miss Ruth Malcolm with e handsome trinket box, and in doing so referred to her services to the hockey club and also to her scholastic abilities. The recipient suitably' replied. Miss Malcolm is leaving Gisborne for Masterton this evening.
