A warm tribute to the British Boyal Family was paid by Sir Wilfrid Laurier at Ottawa: “Let me tell you,” said Sir Wlifrid, “that when I left Ottawa two months ago I had an impression, formed by a study of history, by a study of the British Constitution and of recent events, that the Boyal Family of England, as representing the British Crown was a bond of union between all the different classes in England, Now I come back with the conviction that the British Crown is a bond of union not only of the different classes in the United Kingdom, but also of the whole British Empire. The Boyal Family is one of which we, as British subjects, have reason to be proud, as from the King and Queen to their children and all the collateral members it has given the world an example of those domestic virtues which so strongly appeal to the British heart, and which are the foundation of the happiness, prosperity, and grandeur of a nation.” Dr G. Stanley Hall has collected facts regarding the fears of children. These fears are generally created by parents or servants. He found that 1701 children had 6456 fears, the leading ones being the fear of lightning and thunder, reptiles, strangers, dark, death, domestic animals, disease, wild animals, mice, rats, robbers, high wind, etc. A few. of these fears are rational. In ’ one of nlaoe children were found who dreaded the end of the world—a fear created by adult teaching.
