SUDDEN DEATH AT NAPIER

LPEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.? ' NAPIER, August 28. John O’Brien, a very old resident of the Port, was found dead in an outhouse of the Crown Hotel. Deceased was of very temperate habits, and death is probably due to heart disease. Bank deposit slips for £IO2O were found in his clothes pockets. WOMAN’S STRANGE DEATH. PALMERSTON N., August 28. A woman, Mrs. Emily Knowles, suffering from bruises, thought to have been caused through falling while in a fit, wps taken to a boarding-house on Saturday night. Her condition indicated the effects of alcoholic poisoning. Yesterday morning she was taken to the hospital, where she died suddenly shortly afterwards. A post mortem examination was conducted, and an inquest was opened and adjourned till tomorrow to enable further inquiries to be made. FOUND DROWNED. CARTERTON, August 28. It is reported that the body of a man named Michael Byrone has been found in a creek at Te Wharau, under circumstances pointing to suicide. The deceased had been employed as a laborer by Mr. Cameron at the Flat Point station. No particulars are to hand. A DISASTROUS COLLISION. TIMARU, August 28. On Friday evening, about six, Hedley Abbott, of Pareora, motoring with two friends, Hanson and Haynes, collided with a horse and trap Pareora river. The trap was smashed and the car was much damaged. Wearing, the driver of the trap, had his collar-bone broken. Hanson was cut about the face, and had some teeth knocked out. The others were not hurt. The accident occurred at a spot where it is the habit of traffic both ways to shave the corner. AGED WIDOW’S BODY FOUND. DUNEDIN, Augusts 28. Marion McKinnon, a widow, of St. Clair, aged 75 years, disappeared this morning. Later her dead body was found washed up on the beach.
