MR. W.D.S. MACDONALD, M.P., ILL
AN ATTACK OF APPENDICITIS. THE OPERATION POSTPONED. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, August 30. Vevy general regret has been expressed in the House and its precincts at a, -sudden illness which lia-s overtakenMr. W. D. S. MacDonald, member for the Bay of Plenty and junio-r Government Whip. Mr. MacDonald, who was in Iris usual place ini the House last- night, spoke at some length in. reply to' various criticisms which had been levelled at the' Gove-iiniment, in regard to the amounts spent oin, roads and bridges in the backblocks. Shortly after -lie had concluded his speech, however, Mr. MacDonald complained- of being unwed. It was seen that lie. was suffering: somewhat acutely, and Dr. Me'Gavin was speedily summoned. That gentleman ordered Mr. MacDonald’s immediate' removal to a private hospital, having diagnosed the complaint as appendicitis. Mr. MacDonald passed a rather lestless day today. and upon, inquiries being, made- tonight,, your renres'entative was informed that Mr. MacDonald was suffering great pain. An one-ration for a-mendi-citis is considered to .be- i, inevitable, but so far has been positioned on account of the condition of his heart. Ever since' the commemccment of the session, Mr. .MacDonald has not been in .his usual robust health, and no doubt his untiring devotion to, his parliamentary duties has been the means of preventing his more ranid return to complete health.. Verv many inquiries have been made to-night by -members of Parliament, evidencing the esteem- m which he is held on both sides of the House.
