N.S.W. POLITICAL CRISIS.
TURMOIL IN THE ASSEMBLY. MEMBERS DECLINE HONOR FROM SPEAKER. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) SYDNEY, August 30. After Messrs. Perry, Wood, and Fitzpatrick had been removed, and Messrs. Levy and Cohen had been warned, the Assembly calmed somewhat. Eventually both a privilege and dissent motion were moved by Mr. Cohen, and rejected, the rormer by 38 to 32, and the latter by 39 to 31. The privilege debate was cut short. by the. application of the closure. Pairs asked for Messrs. Wood and Fitzpatrick after their removal were refused.
Messrs. Fitzpatrick «nd Levy both declined the Speaker’s nomination as deputy Chairman of Committees, Mr. Levy on the ground that lie had grave doubts as to the Speaker’s position, and Mr. Fitzpatrick because he declined to accept any honors from Mr. Willis.
The debate on the Address-in-Reply was opened, and the House adjourned at a late hour.
