DROUGHT IN CANTERBURY.
A LIMITED RAINFALL. ; »'RH PRESS ASSOCIATION.'! CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 30, Farmers in Canterbury are complaining at present at the absence of muclilneeded rain, and a comparison of the rainfall recorded so far this month Avith the rainfall in the month of August for the past five or six years shows that their complaint is Avell-founded. July this year has also been a. dry month, comparatively speaking. Ram fell on seventeen days last month, the total being 3.143 inches, as compared with 3.395 in 1906, 1.722 in 1907, 7.881 in 1908, 1.730 ,in 1909, and 6.03 in 1910. On four days only has rain been experienced during the present month, from the Ist to the 29th 'inclusive, the total fall being 0.979 inches. In August, 1906, rain fell on 11 days, the total fall being 1.582 inches; in 1907, 14 days, 2.88 ; inches ;in 1908, 8 davs, 0.743 inches; in 1909, 11 days 2.405 inches, and in 1910. 12 days, 1.894 inches.
