The Rev. H. L. Blamires arrived mot Gisborne on Saturday. The officer commanding the 'Wellington district (Colonel Cbavtor) will, in all probability, visit Gisborne this month, and inspect the East Coast Mounted Rifles. Among the arrivals in town on Saturday was Mr. Jacobsen, the Government apiarist. He leaves to-day for the Coast, and will visit Tologa To'komaru, and Waipiro Bay, returning about Friday, when he - will leave for Wanna later. Mr. Jacobsen' is making an inspection of the various apiaries* in the district. Mr. H. de Lautour, who had been attending the amn'ual meeting of the New Zealand! Sheepowners’ Associavtiom- at Wellington, returned to Gisborne on Saturday. Mr. J. R. Kirk, who has been operated upon for appendicitis, is reported to be' as well as can be expected, and hopes to be about a'rain: shortly. Captain Beere returned to Gisborne from Wellington by the Wimmera cm Saturday, where he has been attending a .meeting of the New Zealand Accountants’ Society. Dr.- Coker was a passenger by the ' Wimmera on Saturday to attend tlfe ■triennial Australasian Medical Congress in Sydney this month. Mr. J. Clark, who has been on a. visit 'to Sydney, returned to Gisborne on Saturday. , . Our Wellington cor resp cnd en t telegraphs thah Mr. W. D. S MacDonald!, M.P., is making satisfactory progress towards complete recovery from his recent indisposition. ■ The members of Purple Star L.O.h . assembled on Friday night for the purpose of saying farewell to Bro G. Lambert, who is bound for Sydney. Mr Rambert was presented with two Gold Jewels, one for himself and one for Mrs Lambert, and several felicitous speeches were made.
