ENTERTAINMENTS.

PATHE PICTURES.

His Majesty's Theatre was well-filled by an enthusiastic audience on Saturday evening, when the Pathe Picture Company screened their week-end change of programme. The various items submitted were all first-class pictures, and comics and dramas were equally distributed. Perhaps the him which created the most interest was one which showed views of the trial of the notorious Camorrists. In this topical subject the audience are given a close view of the prisoners as they emerge from the prison vans and walk in single file into the place of trial. Several vans approach, and in each are nve or six prisoners handcuffed and attached one to the other with chains. Some walk boldly past the camera, whilst others obstruct a. view of their faces with their bands. The object of greatest interest was the aged priest, the Rev. Giro Vitozzi. and he is seen alighting from his carriage accompanied by two officers. A dramatic film entitled A Message from the Arrow” is one of a stirring nature/ founded in the West. A vile plot bv the landgrabbers of the earlv days is, however, cleverly frustrated in the end. A very laughable comic subject was one called llie Cowboy’s Stratagem” and a kindly act by a lover which was misinterpreted by his sweetheart leads to much trouble. With the aid of two other cowboys, however, the three devise a plan by which everything ends happily. The second of the Coronation films was also screened on Saturday evening and showed a fYorgoous view of this brillicirrt pageant on its way to the Guildhall. A splendid view is obtained of their Majesties King George and Queen Mary, also the Prince of Wales and Princess M.ary. The picture of the funeral of the late Cardinal Moran was again shown with much effect. Several other good pictures screened during the evening were: “The Deserter,” “Way of the Transgressor,” “A Clever Ruse, A Family Feud ” “Teddv’s Duels,” “Grandma’s New Year Present.” This evening the pictures will be shown at Te Kanaka and to-morrow evening at Mat an hero.

Dominion audiences. Having a thorough knowledge of the particular delights of the average New Zealand amusement seeker, Mr Stephenson has planned well. He has provided all the elements of a good variety performance m the right proportions, being careful to keep out. items of doubtful taste, the result being that “The Wanderers’ can appear to a very wide circle for patronaSThe box plans are on view at Mr W.
