Continental Railway, Compensation for Beamen, and Compensation Navigation Bills, also measures to codify the criminal law' and amend the Electoral, Old Age Pensions, and Conciliation and Arbitration Acts. 'Hie speech also stated that the progressive land tax was encouraging settlement and attracting desirable immigrants, and that Ministers have under consideration the establishment of reciprocal trade with New Zealand and' Canada.
