The Governor’s speech congratulated the belli try on the continued prosperity of the Commonwealth, and referred to 1 the importance of the work of the Imperial Conference to the dominions; the steady progress of the construction of the Australian navy, the patriotic response of the youth of Australia, under the universal training scheme, and the propsed revision of the tariff with a view to getting rid of anomalies. The programme for the session includes: —Commonwealth Bank, Trans- . Continental Railway, Compensation for Beamen, and Compensation Navigation Bills, also measures to codify the criminal law' and amend the Electoral, Old Age Pensions, and Conciliation and Arbitration Acts. 'Hie speech also stated that the progressive land tax was encouraging settlement and attracting desirable immigrants, and that Ministers have under consideration the establishment of reciprocal trade with New Zealand and' Canada. ' ,
