MR. E. V. LUTTRELL.

SUDDEN DEATH THROUGH

HEART FAILURE

fne sudden death occurred yesterday of Mr, E. V. Luttrell, the veterinatry surgeon, so well and, favorably known throughout this district. Mr Luttrell had been ailing slightly for. some six weeks, but the end came suddenly and quite unexpectedly yesterday owing to heart failure.

The deceased gentleman came to New Zealand in the year 1563, and served in the war against the Maoris, and during the campaign was veterinary surgeon in the Tauranga Cavalry, and at great risk carried many despatches throughout the North Island. He came to Poverty Bay in the year 1871, where he remained ever since, following up his profession as veterinary surgeon, and was looked* upon as one of the cleverest men at his profession in the Dominion. He Was highly respected by ail who knew him, and his death is a great; blow to those who are left to mourn his loss. He leaves a. widow and a grown-up family of three sons and two daughters, Mrs J. K. Mclntosh and Mrs F. H. Bnscke. The late Mr Luttrell was the fifth son of the Earl of Carahampton.
