N.S.W. POLITICAL CRISIS
THE SPEAKER’S FIRM ATTITUDE
[UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYKIGHTJ SYDNEY, Sept. 6.
In the Assembly, the Speaker announced the receipt of Dir. Perry’s writ claiming £IOOO damages against- himself and the Sergeant-at-Arms. On the motion of Mr. McGcwen, the House decided that the Speaker and Sergeaut-at-Arans be allowed to plead, and that Hie Attorney-General be instructed to defend them-.
The censure debate is proceeding. It is quiet and featureless. The Speaker, Mr. Willis, is insisting on absolute decorum. When a member makes objectionable remarks, he causes a withdrawal with a. repetition of the words -withdrawn. A more “I withdraw” is insufficient.
