ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
THE ANNUAL MEETING
There was a fairly large attendance at the annual meeting of the Gisborne Orchestral Society, and Mr M. L. Foster, presided. The secretary (Mr J. Chrisp) read the balance-sheet, winch showed receipts (including balance of £7B 11s 6cl brought forward) £277 16s Id, and expenditure totalling £242 Is 2d • leaving a credit in the savings bank of } £2G 4s 4d, Union Bank £7 3s 7d, cash in hand £2 7s. ~ Tire secretary explained that there had been an unfortunate incident during the year, namely, the destiuction of a considerable amount of the property of the society by fire, which had entailed a loss of about £4O. The assets of the society at date were valued at £io/ 5d T'he election of officers, resulted, as follows: Conductor, Mr M. L. Foster; secretary, Mr J. Clirisp; atiditor, Mr H A. Barton; committee, Messrs M. Foster, C. Adair, F. B. Palairet, E. M. Cuthbert, and J. Chrisp. On the motion of Mr Foster, seconded by Mr C. Margoliouth, it was decided that a complimentary concert be tendered to the financial subscribers at an early date, that being the only concerf owing to the fire the society would be able to give tins year-.A vote of thanks was .passed to the «> Bros, for their to the bocietv A special vote of thanks to the conductor (Mr M.
