SPRING FLOWER SHOW.
THE CLOSING DAY
The Spring flower show and industrial exhibition held in the Garrison Hall terminated last night. There was a very good attendance of visitors, and much admiration was manifested in the special exhibits by Messrs C. P. Davies, Geo. Grant, and C. Ball. In the fancy work classes the point lace by Mr. H. J. Finn, an ancient quilt, and a framed copy of the deed of execution of King Charles I, were the objects of much admiration. The results of the judging yesterday was as follows : Pianoforte solo, (17" years and under) : Miss Gladys Hoare , Violin Solo : Mr. Fred Williams. Daffodils. Trumpet section (3 varieties, 3 blooms each) —Charles Bull 1 and 2. Six varieties (3 blooms each) —Chas. Bull 1. Incomparable (3 varieties, 3 blooms each) —Charles Bull 1. Incomparable (6 varieties, 6 blooms each) —Charles Bull. Leedsii (3 varieties, 6 blooms each) —Charles Bull 1. Balrii (3 varieties, 6 blooms each) — Dr. Williams. Tridymus (1 variety)—Charles Bull 1. Double Trumper or Incomparable (2 varieties, 3 blooms) —Charles Bull I. Polyanthus (1 variety, 3 blooms) — Chas. Bull 1, Miss Gladys Ganet 2. Collection (6 blooms each, large table) —G. Grant 1, Charles Bull 2. Do. (small table) —C. P. Davies, 1, Dr. Williams 2. Open to amateurs who have not already more than three prizes: Trumper (2 varieties) —Mrs D. G. Robertson 1, Mrs D. Wilson 2. Trumper (4 varieties) —Mrs D. G. Robertson 1. Incomparables (2 varieties) —Mrs D. Wilson 1, Mrs D. G. Robertson 2, Mrs H. White 3. Leedsii (2 varieties) Mrs D. G. Robertson 1, Mrs D. In the evening a series of competitions in bed-making, nail-driving, and wood sawing by ladies, and others occupied the time. The amount of the takings was not ascertainable last night, but it is thought that the building fund has benefited considerably by the function.
