CRICKET.
WAINGAKE CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Waingake Club was well-attended by members, the chair being occupied by Mr Griffiths, the captain. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season : —President, Mr T. Jex-Blake; vice-presidents, Messrs C. J. Parker, A. S. Wachsmann, and H. White; captain, Geo. Coop; deputycaptain, E. Colthart; lion, secreta-ry and treasurer, D. J. Parker; selection committee, captain, vice-captain, W. D'aulton, B. Marchant, and D. J. Parker; committee, W. Daulton, B. Marchant, E. C'olthnrt, W. Bowler, M. O’Connor, D. J. Parker, Joseph Parker, and G. Coop. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Jackson, the retiring hon. secretary, and it was decided to write to him thanking him for the good work he had done for the Club in the past. It was resolved to open the season on Saturday, September 23rd, with a match Marriedl v. Single, and to hold a social the same evening in Te Poru woolshed.
THE ENGLISH CRICKETERS. DATES OF THE MATCHES. The allotment committee has fixed the following dates,, subject to the endorsement of the Cricket Board of Control, for the commencement of the chief matches during the tour of the English cricketers in /Australia : November 10th —South Australia. November 17th —Victoria. November 24th —New South Wales. December 1st —Queensland. December 8th —Eleven of Australia, at Brisbane.
December 15th —First Test Match, at Sydney. December 30th —Second Test Match, at Melbourne.
January I2tli —Third Test Match, at Adelaide. February 2nd —Victoria. February 9th —Fourth Test Match, at Melbourne. February 16th —New South 'Wales. February 23rd —Fifth Test Match, at Sydney. March 1st —South Australia. AN UNPROMISING “TEST.” [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.} LONDON, Sept. 8. The cricket match for Australia made 190 against Lord Londesborough’s eleven, the scores being:—Gunn 1, Dobbs (not out) 117, Mead 11, Rhodes 0, Vine 19, Douglas 0, Smith 10, Barnes 0, Hitch 12, Strudwick 2, Warner 5; extras 13. Hobbs carried his bat through the innings. Field took five wickets for 96, C. A. Faulkner four for 36. . Lord Londesborougli s eleven m the second innings scored 20S for three wickets —Spooner (not out) 89 and Jessop (not out) 101.
