DEPREDATIONS OF WILD PIGS.

ATTACKING YOUNG LAMBS

Wild pigs are stated to be causing the death of a number of young lambs in some localities in the AV airai up a (says the “Daily Times”)., A scarcity of food drives the wild pig from his usual haunts in the hills to fields nearer civilisation. When roots and other products of the soil are not obtainable, he looks round 1 for something to appease his hunger, and the young lamb has provided that something. His modus operandi is to watch for a new-born lamb, and before it has the strength to get on to its legs, rush forward, chase the mother away, and make a meal of the lamb.
