WOMAN SPECULATOR’S MANIA FOR GAMBLING.

A remarkable story of how Miss Mabel Eden Wilson, of Knowles House, Esplanade Gardens, Scarborough, had gone through a fortune was told at Scarborough Bankruptcy Court. The debtor admitted that her assets were £2, and that there was a deficiency of £9OO. On the death of her mother in 1896 she inherited £5,000, and five years earlier, on the death of a brother, she received a legacy which she thought, ivas £12,000 or £14,000. Answering further questions the debtor said the money she received was in a. variety of stocks and shares. She sold out, and in 1906 commenced a marginal account with brokers. In the following year she had an advei se balance of nearly £4OO. She had gone on speculating since 1907, but had no record of her speculations. She had lost money m Continental lotteries, and admitted a mania foi gambling.
