PATHE PICTURES
The usual mid-week change of pictures at His Majesty’s Theatre last evening attracted a large and appreciative audience. The picture of greatest general interest was a novel nature study, entitled “Who’s Who at the Zoo,” and it was in every phase of highly edifying value. Many littleknown species of animals are seen at play, and the extreme devotion of the lion and the wonderful dexterity and activity of seals and sea lions, besides the habits of life of many other animals and birds, are illustrated. In “The Deluge” the management have secured one of the finest films ever shown here, and the vitality and reality imparted to the great Biblical narrative at once place the picture on the highest plane of cinematographic art. The many charming scenes in Mrs. Craik’s “John Halifax, Gentleman,” are beautifully depicted in a picture of that title, whilst “An Unexpected Review” is an American story not without its humorous aspects. The dramatic and art series are also of the highest possible standard, and the programme is altogether one of the best screened at the local picture house for some considerable time. There will be no pictures shown this evening, but the above programme will be repeated to-morrow night.
