Vice-Admiral Sir Hedworth Lambton assumes the surname “Meux” on succeeding to Lady Meux’s estate. Press Association cable. It is understood that Mi 1 R. Sinel, ot Wellington, is to be transferred to the local Lands Office, and will occupy the position now held by Mr Holden, who goes to the Napier office. Whether the exchange is to be permanent or otherwise is not known at present. Mr F. H. W. Traill returned irom Wanganui by the Tarawera yesterday morning. „ _ , , Mr. H. Hill, Inspector of Schools, was a passenger to Gisborne by the Tarawera vesterdav morning Mr. G. M. Dodgslmn, returned from the south yesterday, having participated in the golf tournament at Wanganui. , At a meeting of the Oamaru Presbytery it was unanimously resolved to nominate the Rev. R. J. Porter as the Assembly Moderator for 1912. Press Association.
