PERSONAL NOTES.

Sir James Carroll wired bo the Poverty Bay team at Auckland on Saturday wishing them success. His Honor Mr. Justice Chapman arrived from Auckland by the Tarawera last evening to preside over the halfyearly session of the Supreme Court. Mr. W. D. Lysnar was an interested spectator at the Alexandra Park, Auckland, on Saturday, when Poverty Bay played Auckland for the Ranfurly Shield match. Mr. Lysnar s _ eyesight lias improved greatly, and his many friends in Gisborne will be leased to know that he is enjoying good health. Mr. I. Murfield. who for the past six years has acted as building inspector for the Bank of New Zealand, and who during the past few months has been supervising the*additions bo the Bank's local premises, has decided to settle in Gisborne, which be considers to have a bright future before it. Mr. Murfield left for Wellington by the Tarawera last night, but he will return in a few days bo commence business as an architect here. He is at present engaged :n drawing up “fans for a large brick warehouse, which is shortly to be erected here. According to a Press Association, cable Lord Kitchener has left England for Egypt.
