Guides have started out from Seaward, Alaska, to search ±W Jim Jeffries and his brother Jack, who are out on a hunting trip. ■ This step lias been taken as a result of the receipt of a cablegram that Mrs Jeffries is seriously ill at' Los Angeles.
It is reported that Jeffries’ poolroom licence is likely* to be cancelled for breaches committed during his absence.

That Jack Johnson is in grave danger of losing his title is the startling Statement made by Promoter James White, who says that the heavyweight champion has refused to comply with his contract to perform publicly in Paris because of his being afraid, to show his bad condition. <
White says that it was originally believed that Johnson had a soft snap with Bombardier Wells. “Johnson realises now,” adds White, “that he has a hard task in front of him, and wants to back down. But I have him under a heavy bond, and; will compel him to meet Wells.” The white man will receive 50 per cent, of the royalty on the moving pictures, which have been sold for £20,060. Of -that'sum- £II,OOO has been paid, while the remainder has to be handed over an hour ..before the fight.,
