A committee of the House of Representatives recently reported for favorable consideration, the petition for a compassionate' allowance to the widow of tlie late Mr. R. Claude, of Otalrailm, ivlio was the means of averting ’ a collision between the Auckland- Wellington express and a, local train. The Hon. j A.
