Wild trading in United States steel threw Wall Street into ferment, and there was liquidation on a large scale, five points being lost in tlie first houi. There was a slight recovery afterwards, but the total sales were the largest since 1902. The liquidation was due to the belief that the Steel •Corporation has been forced to dissolve as the result of the recent suit of tlie Department of Justice.
