WIRELESS IN NEW ZEALAND.

THE NEW BRIGHTON STATION. , (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 30. Referring to the decision of the Government'to establish a wireless station at New Brighton, the Mayor stated that the site chosen was in every way a'suitable one. It .was desirable that the station should be near the sea and not in the vicinity of hills or mountains, and the site chosen was in the domain between New Brighton and. New Brighton North. The Government had taken about four acres for the . station, and some adjacent land had also been purchased giving access to the station from the North New Brighton tram line. There would thus be access from all sides of the station, and it. is expected that the place will become very, attractive to visitors. The poles will be 160 ft. high so the station will be quite a. prominent feature of the district. One condition imposed by the Borough Council is that the Government should provide and maintain for the public use a sunshine recorder in connection with the station. 'There wall also be a telegraph station and post office. The part of the Domain on which the station is to be erected consists of sand hills and is not planted.
