The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London September 30th, states : The mutton market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. Canterbury 4-J-d, North Island Lamb: The market is quiet but steady. Canterbury, 5 Jd; other than Canterbury, sgd. The beef market is dull on account oi heavy arrivals. There is less demand. New .Zealand hindquarters 3|d, forequarters 2|d. The butter market is . strong, and all stocks are advancing. The supply falls short of the demand. Victoria, this season’s has arrived, and is realising 1325; Danish 1455,- Siberian 1265. The cheese market is quiet, but holders are firm. There is less demand on .account- of the. high price. Canadian is at 70s. The hemp market continues dull. There is no change in prices, viz., New Zealand good to fair, on spot, £l9 15s; New Zealand, fail grade, £lB 15s; fair current Manila, £2O; forward shipment New Zealand good to fair, £2O; fair grade, £l9; fail current Manila, £2O os. Bradford wool market the supply is limited, and there is. slightly more industry. Forty-sixes (immediate delivery), 14d. Butter is very firm, with a hardening tendency, owing to 611014; supplies from all sources, especially continental. Danish is about 141 s. Choicest Australian is ini‘strong demand at 130 s to 1325; secnod quality is in less request at 118 s to 126. Cheese is firm: 'Canadian is quoted at 70s to 725. New Zealand (on spot) is not offering. Y / The wheat markets are quiet, and buyers are not interested. Australian : and Russian cargoes are freely offered. An Australian cargo sold at 35s 6d. Holders are asking 36s 9d' for South Australian July, September and November shipments, and 36s 10|d for New South Wales shipment first half of October; 34s 3d has been paid for an Australian afloat and 34s 10) d for an October shipment ; 34s 10|d is quoted for South Australian and Victorian October and November shipments. There is fair inquiry for Australian (on . spot), 375. Flour inactive. Oats slow. "La Plata November and December shipments, LONDON, October 1. At the wool sales 48,747 bales, were offered, and 42,214 were sold.' The market was animated, prices being unchanged.
