■ The presence of- mind and resourcefuiness of a girl of .twelve years ham saved the lives of her two sisters, aged eight and two years respectively. While taking dinner to their father, a man named Reilly, a. lock-keeper on" the Royne Canal ; near Stackallen, the second eldest girl, • carrying the-youngest, fell into the water. Procuring .a drag the eldest girl got the two children to the surface, and having seen that the elder was securely holding to t-lie pole handle, and also supporting the youngest child, she Herself sat on the other end of the drag, the centre of which rested on the canal bank.
