Dr. Mary Booth read a paper on “The scope and organisation of ]a school medical service,’’ in which shj} observed that in Australia they were passing, for the most part, through, the experimental stage, but they had already some idea of the problems and’ difficulties peculiar to themselves, though they were not yet giving any critical study to the central problem—the medical inspection of the child. On-account of the smallness of; the staff engaged in medical work they were o’hly able to touch upon the fringe of the.- subject, yet though it was not possible to examine all the children every year, they might agree with the EnglWn opinion that three examinations d;*ing the eight years of school life - W/c© desirable, or at least worthy of ai Tpial. Their problem was to make school environment such that a child was better physically for spending his life there.
