SINKING OF THE TAVIUNI.
CARLO BEING DISCHARGED

The copra cargo- of the steamer Taviuni is being discharged. It is not thought to have been seriously damaged by The copra is a portion of the cargo salved 'from the wreck of the Knight of Saint George at Nukualofa. 'Latest details show that the Nora, which struck the Taviuni, was starting on her outward voyage, - and the Taviuni was inward bound. The Neva’s rudder was badly twisted and one plate on her port quarter was fractured. The Taviuni’s stern is submerged. She is lying-on her port side with her bows above water. Her cargo ,including 20,00 bags of copra, is valued at £25,000. / (Received Oct. 5, 12.55 a.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 4. A thousand bags of: 1 the Taviuni’s copra have been salved, and the divers are temporarily repairing the vessel with a view to raising her. . Tlie* underwriters are calling tenders for the purchase- of the cargio.
