COUNTY ELECTIONS.

TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER Bth. HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION ON SAME DATE. Tli© County elections have been fixed' to take place on November Bth, and no doubt they will cause a considerable amount of interest in both the Cook and Waikohu Counties. Since last election the representation of the former has been increased from 9 to 12 members, and the latter from 6 to 7 members. The Waimata and Tologa ridings "have been divided since last election, and the Pakarae and Pouawa ladings were established in consequence. _ The Arai riding is at present being divided. The representatives on the Waikohu County Council have been increased by one. Motu and Alangatu will have two members, while the Waipaoa riding has been merged into Mangatu. The following are the ridings in the Cook County with their present representatives : Gisborne Riding, two members, (Hon. Captain Tucker) ; Tologa, two (Cr. E. B. Boland); Pakarae, one (Cr. T. Fraser); Whataupoko, one (Cr. R. Slierratt); Hangaroa, one {Cr. F. J. Lysnar); Arai, two (Crs. H. White and T. Jex-Blake); Waimata, one (Cr. T. Holden); Pouawa, one. The Waikohu Council is elected by the ratepayers in the following ridings, the present members being given in parentheses:—Motu Riding, two <Mr W. D. S. MacDonald, M.P.); Mangatu, two (Cr. M. H. Campbell); Ngatapa, one (Cr. E. M. Hutchinson); Kanakanaia, one (Cr. H. Telford); Kanaka, one (Cr. A. M. Lewis). Cr. E, V. Palmer at present represents the Waipaoa Riding. On the same date the election of members to the Cook Hospital and Charitable Aid Board will take place. Cook County has five members (the Hon. Capt. Tucker, Messrs T. Holden, D. Hepburn, F. J. Lysnar, and C. Gray), and the Waikohu County two members (Messrs A. M. Lewis and H. Telford). Dor. Collins and Messrs R. Johnston, W. Webb and G. Darton are the present Borough representatives.
