VITRIOL OUTRAGE.
SCENE IN FRENCH' BEDROOM
“Yes, or no; will you marry me?” “No, I will not!” “Then you just see!” . This was the lightning conversation that passed between a youpg man, just awakened out of his sleep, and a young woman at, the door. With the same lightning rapidity a cup full of vitriol Hew at him from the door, and woke him. up thoroughly this time. The conclusion was in the Paris Law Courts. The young man explained that lie had agreed to marry the young woman, but after a while he changed his mind. This exasperated her, and one day. when he had fallen asleep, she broke into his room. The above conversation then took place, and he was burnt in the face by the vitriol. In the course of the trial he again repeated that lie did not care to marry her, the more so now as she was proved to have the vitriol habit. The sentence was eight months’ imprisonment.
