THE BEST I HAVE TASTED.”

NEW ZEALAND BUTTER IN CANADA. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 17. The Canadian Trade Commissioner (Mr W. A. Beddoe) has received a letter from the Deputy Minister for Commerce (Mr O’Hara) stating that a box of New Zealand butter sent to Canada recently arrived in splendid condition in twenty-seven days at Ottawa, despite the fact that the weather was extremely hot. It was put in the cold storage and the manager there became so struck with its fine appearance and quality, that he requested the Minister to inquire from the Auckland Commissioner, the, cost of a trial shipment with a view to purchasing more Largely in the future. The letter concluded with tlie words “It is the best butter I have ever tasted.’’

This communication, says Mr Beddce, means that the possibility is opened up for sending New Zealand butter as far East as Ottawa, which is 3000 miles from Vancouver. I have always considered the market was on the west coast and as far east as Winnipeg, hut if butter can find its way as far as Ottawa, it makes it possible to supply all the other large centres in Ontario, such as Toronto (population 3,500,000) and Hamilton (120,000). Arrangements are being made for a trial shipment.
