It was a boisterous, haw and showery morning at Trentham, and the work was of an uninteresting nature, nearly all the horses being restricted to halfpace work. . The new arrivals included Byron, Taffeta, Lady Georgia, Ovation, Vocation, Imagination, Royal Scotch, Parable, Ireland, Our Queen and: Birkline. To-night’s arrivals were Mendip, Patriotic, Mulga Bill, St. Toney and Electrakoff. Bracken slipped np whilst going out to work on the sand, and, falling on his side, dislodged his rider, who, however, stuck to the reins and subsequently remounted. The big gelding was lame immediately after his accident, hut he strode out freely enough, and was apparently sound as ho walked back to the scraping sheds. Midnight Sun arrived from Sydney by the Manuka to-day, and it is understoodl will join Royal Scotch. Parable and Ireland at Trentham. Last year 101 men and 30' women committed suicide in Victoria. Footballers and hockey players! At the close of your strenuous games, make straight for the Grey Street Baths. A nice warm bath will remove all traces of stiffness. Follow this up with a cold shower, and you will feel fit to play for New Zealand. Yon can take your bath in comfort and with pleasure at Harry Hull’s.*
