CAULFIELD CUP.

WON BY LADY MEDALLIST,

(United Press Association—Copyrigirt.) (Received Oct. 21, 6 p.m.) CAULFIELD, Oct. 21. After a cold and wintry week Cup day was favored with bright sunshine arid a typical spring day. The record attendance which was promised on the opening day was fully maintained, for certainly it was the biggest Caulfield Cup crowd that can be remembered. The Cup win was very popular. Lady Medallist was always in a good place, and finished well. Results:—

Oby Hurdle Race, of 200 sovs, 2 miles and a distance.—Bullawarra 12.1, 1; Jules, 10.7, 2; Bibbenluke, 10.5, 3. Five others ran. The winner led all the way and won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 4mm 9fsec. Gwyn Nursery, of 650 sovs, 4) furlongs.—Gold Brew, 8.4, 1; Cider, 7.11, 2; Mindai, 7.1, 3. Ten others started. Gold Brew led after getting into his stride, and finished two' lengths ahead of Cider, one length separating second and third. Time, 55sec. CAULFIELD CUP, of 3000 sovs., If miles.

Lady Medallist, 8.5 (Barnett)... 1 Flavian, 7.9 (Lambert) 2 Aurofodina, 8.7 (Smith) 3 All started. Sandbath was the first to break the line from Radiator, Flava, Hartfell, Didus, and Jolly Beggar. After traversing a furlong Twa Brigs took charge and led past the box from Didus, Beverage, Jolly Beggar, Hartfell, Lady Medallist, and Indiscreet. Here Radiator nearly fell. Aurofodina . was nearly last going out of the straight, and Twa Brigs led from Didus, Beverage, Indiscreet, Jolly Beggar. Indiscreet then ran up to second place, and at the. mile post Twa Brigs led from Beverage, Flavia, Hartfell, Flavian, and Lady Medallist. Indiscreet then took charge from Twa Brigs, Beverage, Didus, Radiator, Flavian, and Lady Medallist. Lidiscreet made a hot run along the railway side, with Beverage close up. Then came Lady Medallist, Didus, Aurofodina, and Flavian. Hartfell was interfered with, and Lady Medallist led round the turn from Aurofodina, with Sandbath making a good run on the outside, with Flavian handy. Lady Medallist led into _ the straight from Flavian and Aurofodina, and they finished in that order, Lady Medallist winning by six lengths, with three lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 34fsec —equal to last year’s record.

Wyuna Steeplechase,, of 250 sovs, 2 miles and 3 furlongs.—Timburello, 9.0, 1; Southerly, 9.11, 2; Vanguard, 11.7, 3. Seven others started. Timburello led over the last fence from Altar Boy, Vanguard, and Southerley. Southerley passed Vanguard in the run home. Timburello won by four lengths. Time, 4min 44ifsec. Windsor Handicap, of 300 sovs, 6 furlongs.—Popinjay, 8.5, 1; Blast, 9.3, 2; Mala, 9.7, 3. Sylvander, Golden Point, McCulloch, Ayrloch, Brookong, Loru, Bedloe, Oroiete, Miss Gower, and Saltare also started. The running was made by Popinjay and Blast, and in an exciting finish Popinjay won by half a head, two lengths separating second and third. Time, lmin 23sec. Moora Welter, of 250 sovs, 1 mile.— Kerlie, 9.7, 1; Full Sail, 9.5, 2; Lager, 10.7, 3. Fiftoeen others started. Full Sail led all the way, with Kerlie lying fourth. Kerlie made a dash at the distance, and won by a short half head. Five lengths separated second and third. Time, lmin 4l£sec. FLEMINGTON TRAINING NOTES. (Received Oct. 21, 11.20 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 21.

Woolerina ran seven furlongs in lmin 40sec, Prizefighter 12 furlongs in 2min 42-|sec, Comedy King nine furlongs in Imm 481 sec, Wilari arid Philia a mile in lmin 52sec, Trafalgar 12 furlongs in 2min 44sec, Flaith nine furlongs in 2min 3sec, Prince Foote and Duke Foote four furlongs in 55sec, Crown Grant a mile in lmin 50sec, Eyeglass a mile in lmin 49£sec, Rifle a mile in lmin 50|sec, and Glue a similar distance in lmin 51sec.
