PLEASURE SEEKERS’ SUDDEN END.

SEVEN LIVES LOST.

ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN-

(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 22. A terrible boating accident occurred at Te Whararigi, a seaside resort at Poxton Heads, this morning. A large number of Palmerston people have cottages there, where they stay for weekends, and over the summer. These have motor launches on the river, and a party of ladies and children were going out this morning to Mr Robert’s motor launch. There was a sharp breeze and a jobblo on the water. The dinghy was very much overladen, and capsized and sank before any boats could' be launched from the shore.

All the occupants of the boat were drowned.

Tlie list of fatalities is as follows: Mrs Percy Robert, of Palmerston North, and her two sons. Mrs Groves, wife of Mr Groves, motor expert, Palmerston North, and one child.

Miss Fanny O’Sullivan, daughter of Capt. O’Sullivan, of the Defence Department, Wellington. Miss Arnold, of Nelson.
