TE HAPARA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Hapara School Committee was held on Saturday. There were present:— Messrs. G. K. Pasley (in the chair), J. Golding, Harding, Hepburn, Tlielwall, Thomas, and P. G. Andrew (lion, secretary). The headmaster reported that the roll number for the month was 207, with an average attendance of 184. Inspector Smith forwarded his annual report on the school, which was of a highly satisfactory nature, and it was decided to congratulate the headmaster and the staff on the good results shown..
The Hawke’s Bay Education Board wrote, intimating that they were making provision for the accommodation of another 60 pupils at the school. With regard to the appointment of an additional assistant teacher, it was decided, in view of the large number of very young children, to inform the Board that the appointment of a female would he more suitable than a male at the present stajfe. It was decided to lay down a tarred and sanded wicket on the school cricket ground, the cost of the work being subscribed by the members of the committee. An inspection of the grounds was made, and the trees and shrubs recently planted were found to bo in good order. Messrs. Tlielwall and Thomas were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
