LABOR DAY CELEBRATIONS.
SPORTS AND PROCESSIONS

A very general holiday was observed to-day. The weather was showery early this morning, but later it was beautifully fine. The Labor Day procession was on a large scale, and was witnessed by an unusual crowd of spectators.
NAPIER, Oct. 23. Labor Day was celebrated by a picnic and sports in Farndon Park, organised by the Trades and Labor Council. The attendance was 5000, and the picnic was a great success. WELLINGTON, Oet. 23.
A close holiday was observed today for Labour Day. Great crowds went out to the Trentham races. About 2500 attended 1 the Labour Day picnic and sports at Miramar, which passed off very successfully. Sir Joseph Ward was present at the sports during the afternoon.
DUNEDIN, Oct. 23
The weather is fine, and a close holiday is being observed. The principal attractions are the Labor Day sp-orts at Outnam. A large number of sporting people also journeyed to the Goto races and the Oamaru trotting meeting.
TIMARU, Oct. 23. Beautiful weather favoured the Labor Day holiday. The workers’ committee arranged! a. picnic and sports, chiefly for children!, in the park and bad a good day, there being a goio-d attendance. The cricket season was opened 1 , and the bawling clubs opened the season with matches. The Rifle Association arranged an opening shoot at the Pntiti range.
