SUPPRESSION OF STREET NUISANCES IN CALIFORNIA.
A campaign for the l suppression of what the American newspapers call “mashers” has. the “Mail” reports), been started in Los Angeles, California. where a singular addition to tho police force was made in the person of Miss Fay Evans, a remarkable pretty girl, wearing exquisite, clothes. Miss Evans, whose- official designation. is “volunteer flirFcateller,” is convinced that the tactics of the man who oglos girls in the public streets are a menace, to. womankind, and offered her services to- the police.. Followed at some distance by two detectives ini plain clothes, Miss Evans promenaded tho main thoroughfares of Lcs Angelos. Her walk resulted in the capture of ten men, who were each fined £6. with the alternative of thirty days’ imprisonment, for accosting the attractive flirtcatcher.
