A warm shower of rain greeted trainers at Riccarton this morning, but it was of short duration, and did. not affect work to any extent. The plough, on which most of the work was done, was m nice condition, and seyeial smart gallops were put up. Martine, with a lightweight up, galloped a mile in pleasing manner in lmin. 45sec., and Query took lmin 214 sees. to cover six furlongs. Masterpiece and Counterfeit were next out, and commencing a trifle slowly, rattled over one mile and a quarter in 2min 25secs., the former finishing the better. Prim and Goldfirder were companions in a mile gallop, which they accounted for in lmin 47sec, finishing together. Autumnus ran half a mile in oOsec, and Sea King had the better of Ooloen Mary at the end of five furlongs which occupied lmin 4 3-‘ssecs. Rose Noble and Miss Fry accounted for 7 furlongs in lmin 32 l-ssecs, and Crosbie put up a nice gallop over six furlongs in lmin 16 2-ssecs. St. Aidan, assisted by Wedge over the last six furlongs, gotl to the end of a mile in lmin 50 1-5 secs., and Ito went a mile and a-lialf at a good pace. Madam Madcap and Countermine were companions in a five furlong sprint, which took them lmin 3 l-ssees to negotiate. Southern Cross Santa Rosaleer and Sapience went a mile in lmin olsecs, and Mere finished well, after four furlongs had been left behind, in 57 l-osecs. Mumuera and Cronstadt took lmin 33sec to run 7 furlongs and Oratava and Eagle,stone accounted for the same distance in lmin 36sees. Nothsdale and Somersault together ran five furlongs in lmin 7sec. Tannliauser was given two rounds at half pace, and sprinted over the last three furlongs, while North Pole galloped four furlongs in 52 3-osecs., and Nikon and The Cornet went a furlong further in lmin 4sec., finishing well. Foam Flake and Amalgam together strode over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-5 sees, and Pert and Battalion went seven furlongs in lmin 35 2-ssecs. Anna, Carolorina, Edith a and May Dalrymple were companions in three furlongs sprint, which took 3S l-osecs to complete, and Pilgrim’s Way went four furlongs in 50 4-osecs, finishing well. Milo jumped five flights of hurdles pleasingly after breakfast, and Outlander ran the last nine furlongs of a mile and a quarter in 2min 2see, and Los Angelos covered the same distance in 2min 2secs, the last mile being lmin 46secs. The Cup horse commenced rather slowly, but once under way he galloped in good style and finished up his task in a business-like manner. Topaz ran the last five furlongs of six furlongs in lmin 9 l-osecs. and Bonny Glen left the same distance behind in lmin 4 4-osecs. Peppin and another galloped three furlongs in 3Ssees, and Art sprinted down the straight. Brown Owl was going tetter than Glenfinnin at. the end of half a mile, run in 50 2-5 secs., a task that All Guiis equalled. Fisticuff finished better than Gasoline in a four furlongs gallop, which took oOsecs, and Kimmona got to the end of six furlongs in lmin liHsec. Slow 1 Tom acted as schoolmaster over the first of two flights of hurdles, which Ganta Claus negotiated in good style. Corry did a nice working gallop over six furlongs, assisted by Peg and Dip over the last half mile. Scottish Star was too good for Bonitas over four furlongs, run in 51 l-osecs, a distance which Early Morn accounted for in exactly the same time, and Quarantine took oOsec. to complete. Avarice ran six furlongs in lmin ISsec, and Passion and the Martian—Greek Maid filly covered half a mile in 52 l-4osec. Nightliglvt put up a nice gallop over a mile and a smarter, which she completed in 2mih 25 .‘‘•s secs., assisted by Eoliinoor over the last seven furlongs.
