PERSONAL NOTES.
The Hon. Captain Tucker arrived from Wellington on Saturday. Mr- W. A. Barton, S.M., leaves tomorrow on his periodical visit to the Coast, where, he will hold sittings cf the Magistrate.’,-;. Court.. Mr. H. B. Williams left for the south yesterday by the Mokoia. Mr H. McManr.way, of Foildir.g, was a passenger by the same steamer. Mr. It. H. Skipwith returned to Wellington by the Mckoia last evening. Mr. J. Sheridan left for Napier yesterday. Mr- A. L. D. Fraser, of Hastings, arrived in town on Saturday. Mr. W. D. Lysnar will probably return to Gisborne about the end of November. Adjutant Melksfiam left for Wellington yesterday. Color-Sergeant J. V. Scott, the Gisborne representative in the Coronation contingent, returned to Gisborne on Saturday. Mr. T. R. Herd, who has been relieving Mr. J. Howie, the local Collector of Customs, returned to Auckland on. Saturday. Lady Carroll, who has been on a visit to Wellington:, returned to Gisborne on Saturday- Sir James Carroll will probably return on. Wednesday. As the lease held by Mr. J. A. Lucas in connection with the Coionation Hotel has expired. Mr. Lucas intends to take up his residence privately . in Gisborne. From Wednesday next this well-known hotel will be conducted by Mr. R,. S. Caulton, who is well known in this district.
