NATIVE LANDS, The present position of Native lands in the North Island is shown in a return presented to the House of Representatives by the Native Minister on Saturday morning. The following are the total areas in the main division : Lands title to which has not been ascertained, otherwise Papatupu or cuetomary lands, 1,777,209 acres; lands to v hich titles were ascertained! and 0 • leased to Europeans 2,422,469. The lands were distributed as follows Papatupu lands, Auckland 1,897,567 acres Taranaki 31,000 Hawke’s Bay 519,681, Wellington 328,961, total 2,777,209. Leased lands, Auckland 392,374 acres, Taranaki 64,718 acres, Hawke’s Bay . 1,285,556. Wellington 679,820. total 2,423,469. Lands held by Maoris, Auckland 3.387,107 acres, Taranaki 494,298, Hawke’s Bay 774,922, Wellington 973,481; total. 5,629,505.
