SUMMARY AND FORECAST.

(Dot Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 31. The summary and forecast is as follows :—Rain has fallen on the West Coast and southernmost districts of the tlouth Island, and a westerly gale has prevailed in Foveaux Strait during Monday night. Squally and divergent winds were reported this morning in various parts, blit moderate to strong westerlies have prevailed, with fair and warm weather generally. The barometer rose during the night ,in the south. 1 Present indications are for increasing haze and cloudiness generally, but especially in the northern and southernmots districts. Moderate to strong westerly winds will probably give way to increasing norther lies, and a falling barometer everywhere after about sixteen hours.
