DIVORCE LAW CHAOS.

“CAST ASIDE MARRIAGE AND ADOPT PRACTICE OF AFFINITIES.”

At a divorce-laws convention at Spring Lake, which Governors of most ot the American States attended, Governor "Wilson, of Kentucky, denounced the diversity and laxity of the laws on divorce, winch differ in all the States. “Unless,” said the Governor, ’ these laws are reformed and made uniform in all the States we may as well cast aside marriage and definitely adopt the practice of ‘affinities,’ living together m lieu of marriage until some other better ‘affinity’ turns up.” Other speakers declared that the present chaotic condition of divorce laws threatened the foundations of American society, and denounced a system which permitted the crossing of a State line to be pleaded as justification for law-breaking.
