FATAL INJURIES.

MAN SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN STRUCK DOWN.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 1

About 10.30 o’clock on Tuesday evening a man named Geo. Gunther was taken to the hospital suffering from an injury supposed to have been caused by his being knocked down, by another man near the corner of Willis and Manners Streets. When admitted to the hospital Gunther was unconscious, and in that condition he remained until 3 o’clock this afternoon, when he died. Gunther was a station hand, and belonged to Masterton, but recently he had been working at Pongaroa. The deceased’s mother, who at present is very ill, and a brother reside at Maxtom The police are making inquiries for the man who is supposed, to have been responsible for the mishap to Gunther. An inquest will he held tomorrow.
