RAILWAY SMASH.
EXPRESS AND STOCK TRAIN COLLIDE.
NINE PASSENGERS INJURED

An accident was caused by a stock train, while shunting on to a loop line to allow the Melbourne-Sydney express to pass, colliding with the express. The sound of the impact roused the residents, who were quickly on the scene, and rendered assistance. There was great excitement amongst the passengers on the mail train untilJ; he doors were unlocked and they were released.
Altogether nine were injured, mostly suffering from shock and bruises. One passenger was removed to the hospital, and the others proceeded to their homes after they had received medical attention The traffic was blocked for many hours. Several sheep trucks were smashed, and a large number of animals were killed or mangled. Three c ngines and other rolling stock were damaged.
