THURSDAY COMPETITION.
The weather was fine for the opening of the Thursday competition at the Victoria Domain yesterday afternoon. _ Alhambra met Y.M.C.A., and in their first innings made 105. Y.M.C.A. replied with 50, and at the call of time Alhambra had made 150 for six wickets. Scholium knocked up 74 in the second innings for Alhambra, and was not out when stumps were drawn. Lang 34 and Lewis 30 were the next best batsmen. Scholium and Olsen were the most successful howlers for Alhambra. Lang 34, Olsen (not out) 18, and Tremblet 14 were the best of the Y.M.C.A. batsmen, while Nelson and Jones were the principal howlers. Scores :
UNITED A v. UNITED B. United A had first use of the wicket in their match against United B, and when stumps were drawn had only ,ost four wickets for 377, Lindon Deing 160 not out and Maude 84 not out. The former only gave a couple of chances, wide Maude was in fine form, and at one stage got five fours in succession. Hallamore contributed 41 and Hooker 29. Scores:
