LONDON MARKETS
(United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, Nov. 4. The butter market is quiet. Danish is quoted at 1345. There is a steady demand for Australian* and smaH arrivals are being cleared well; choicest salted, 126 sto 128 s; unsalted, 130 s. Secondaries are slow of sale at from 112 s to 102 s. The quality of new arrivals is generally very satisfactory. The Bradford wool market is firmer. Quotations for future delivery: Sixtyfours, 24fd; super sixties, 24id; common sixties, 22Jd; others are unchanged. 'Hie wheat market is inactive, and prices show a lower tendency all round, chiefly owing to the excellent crop prospects" in Argentina, and reports of rain and improvement in conditions in Australia. Buyers are filling only pressing requirements. Cargoes are neglected, 36s 9d being asked for Australian July shipment, 36s 2d for January-February, 36s 6d for January; 35s was paid for a parcel of November-December shipment. There is little demand for spot; Australian 375, New Zealand best 35s 6d to 35s 9d. The oats market is generally weak. New Zealands are scarce, and prices are firm. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London November 4th, states: The mutton market is steady, and prices are well maintained. Canterbury, ; North Island, 3|d. The lamb market is quiet. Holders are firm. Canterbury, sd; other than Canterbury, 4-|d. The beef market is dull. New Zealand hindquarters, 3£d; forequarters, 2§d. The butter market is slightly weaker, with less demand, on account of high prices. Danish, 1355; Siberian, 118 s; Australian. 1265. The cheese market is quiet but steady, with no change in prices. Canadian is at 69s to 70s. The hemp market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. New Zealand, good to fair, on spot, per ton, £l9 15s; fairgrade, £lB 15s; fair current Manila, £2O Is. Hie output from Manila for the week was 24,000 bales. The stock of New Zealand hemp is 150 tons. Mutton and lamb: The River Plate shipments received during October, 1911, were: Newcastle, 10,000 carcases mutton, lamb nil; London, 88,157, 18,879; Liverpool, 120,924, 25,890; Hull, 36,108, 300; Southampton, 13,583, 11,000; Cardiff, 6698, 650; Ireland, 850, nil; totals, 246,320 and 46,719. For October, 1910, the totals were 206,791 and 19,354.
