POVERTY BAY r CLUB.
The first trial fours in connection xvith the Pox’erty Bay Rawing Club were continued last evening, when the first round xvas concluded- by S. Doig, N. Cresswell, V. Wild O. Hansen defeating T„ Parker, J. Webb, A. Kellett, C-. Morell. Doig got xx-ell away at the start, and xvas leading 'by about a length at the footbridge, -when Parker’s crexv closed up, and was gaining rapidly, but failed to reach the winners by about half a-length. In the second round G. Douglas, F. Snoxx'den, V. Somervell and D. Gray defeated J. McConnell, W. Riddell, AV. Moore, and W. Booth after a very exciting race. Both crews got well away together, and were racing together to Roebuck Road bridge, when Douglas drexv axvay about half a-length. McConnell then spurted and ox r -erhauled the leader, and at- the finish both crews xvere racing for all they xx'ere worth, Douglas gaining the verdict by about 6ft.
