The chief demotion is a drama entitled “Conscience,” xvhich demonstrates undeniably that the most infallible and compelling, influence in man is conscience and how it reduces him to the state of being an arrant coward, or points out to him the path that leads to the greatest glory. Incidentally the film shoxvs xvhat degree of fallibility attaches to circumstantial evidence. A romance of a G erman music-i/eacjiei > entitled “The Voice of the Violin,” tells a story of a young man xvho becomes imbued xvith socialistic ideals, and creates a minor revolution. Other dramas include “The Tribe’s Penalty and “A Mother’s Cross.” A really cnarming study is one entitled “A Traoedy in Toyiand,” xvhich is a distinct departure from the usual in picture production. It is a little play m which the characters, except in the opening and closing scenes, are impersonated bv toy figures or mannikins. lictuies of this character represent an immense amount of painstaking labor. In tins instance 123,000 separate movements xvere required to make the mannikins stimulate life. “Winsor McCay, a comedy, and “Under the Union Jack, are also interesting films.
